This source was written by the U.S. Government. It was passed as an act.
This was released on November 17, 1880. It was released as an act at this time.
This is a Treaty of Immigration from China. It is helpful because I am able to learn the specific reasons why the law was passed.
It is for everyone. It is to inform both the Americans and Chinese. If the audience was different, it would mean that the law/act wouldn't be valid as people didn't know about it. As a result, it wouldn't work.
The purpose of this treaty is to see how America is now regulating and suspending the Chinese immigrants.
The main idea of this treaty is to place restrictions on the number of Chinese workers permitted to immigrate to America.
This was an impact on Chinese migration to the U.S. It matters today because this paved the way for the Chinese Exclusion Act in 1882 between the Chinese and Americans.
Was this treaty taken as seriously as the Chinese Exclusion Act? If it was, why isn't this treaty as famous as the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882?
